Do you ever come across a website and are instantly excited? That happened to me today and I wanted to pass it on to all of you. You might already be aware of this site, but I couldn't help myself! This is perfect for all of those vocabulary words that we require the kids to learn. I'm doing a unit on Ancient Egypt right now and this is going to be just what the kids need. My plan is to give each student a vocabulary word and then send them, in groups, to this site. Then, they can list all of the words related to the vocabulary word. They'll be studying and NOT even know it! I hope you enjoy it as much as I am! If anyone has any other ideas for these word clouds, please feel free to share....I'm always looking to change things up a bit.

I love to have kids write a paragraph about something we've studied or something from their own experience that relates to what we are going to talk about. Then they get with a partner and both partners type in their paragraphs. Then they get an awesome word cloud! Other great sites are tagxedo.com and wordle.net. They pull out the high frequency words in the paragraphs and use those to create the word clouds. Then you can hang them in the room for students to see throughout the unit.
